What's going on...

A brief list of what's going on around here...
  • I started knitting Scout a sweater, and it might go with the polka dot dress below or it might not.  I didn't have the patience to order any of the yarn/colors listed below, so I went for instant gratification at the yarn store down the street in the 10 minutes I had on Sunday.  It's a pretty quick little shruggy-cardigan, so if it doesn't work, I'll make a second.
  • Some would say that this is representative of my proclivity to ask for advice but never take it.  But I did consider all suggestions in the comments and on Pinterest.  I just wanted to start the sweater during the Super Bowl or I'd be bored.
  • I watched a majority of the Super Bowl.  Other than the blackout, I was mainly distracted by wondering if the other two members of Destiny's Child just hate Beyonce behind her back, because I think they probably do.  But Single Ladies makes Scout groove.  My other highlight was the Clydesdale commercial.  Sniff.

  • In other news, I realized that I could resist no longer, and became one of the last people in the world to start watching Downton Abbey.  Who doesn't love a stuffy costume drama?  I had considered buying the DVDs, but realized that subscribing to Hulu was far more economical.  I stayed up way too late last Friday watching most of Season One and made it through Season Two last night.  I need to get caught up on Season Three.  NO SPOILERS, please.
  • I love it.  It has all the makings of a Jane Austen novel - no children, a family of daughters and an entail*, and cousin courtship - only unlike an Austen novel, the servants have lives.  But who knew that loving your cousin (even, some number removed) could be so romantic?

  • I spent last weekend cooking.  Stuff for dinner Saturday and Sunday, prepping all the stuff for dinner for the week, and stuff for the freezer.  Of course, last night's meal was a royal fail that we decided was too unappetizing to even taste.  So I made a frozen pizza, which I proceeded to drop cheese-side down when I took it out of the oven.
  • Scout can say the ABCs, or at least an approximation of each letter.  She will not do this while there is a camera on.
  • We've been reinforcing "thank you" and "your welcome," but now if I hand her something she says, "your welcome, mom," instead of "thank you.
  • One of Scout's favorite toys is an old cell phone, and luckily, we have a few different ones laying around.  Well, Rykert dug out their respective chargers and has been charging them for her so they light up and take pictures.  The problem is that they also attempt to make calls.
  • She grabs her dolly diaper bag, play keys, and a phone heads for her cozy coupe and says, "bubye mom; I go working; see ya; wuv you; bye."  And then gets out of the car and says, "I back."  Rinse.  Repeat.  Also if I use the word "go" in a sentence, she immediately says, "I coming."  Even if I'm not going anywhere.
  • It's Girl Scout cookie time.
* Perhaps law school Real Property could be taught through inheritance issues in English novels.  Though I know the entail as a "fee tail."
