I'm still here.

I put that Halloween post up and then I up and disappeared.  Thanks everyone for voting.  I'm still on the fence.  But polling indicates that Little Red is pulling ahead.  Of course, I found the perfect little cowboy shirt for a Jessie costume at the farm supply store (where I was buying Scout a nice durable coat) and picked it up just in case.  I can always take it back (along with the coat, probably).  I think I'll sit on it a little longer.  But I need to make a decision soon, or I'll continue to come up with more ideas to add to the pot and further confuse things.

Wonder Woman drives the tractor.
This is how we roll.
I'm not really sure what we've been up to the past few weeks. I'm guessing it was a combination of work, playing "owsiiiiiide," sleep, and being lazy on the couch.  But a few bullets:
  • Scout went to her first (and second) high school football game.  She loved the band and the popcorn and the clapping.  She stayed up well past her bedtime, but was more interested in all the happenings than acting like a pill.
  • We celebrated my grandpa's 89th birthday last weekend.  I'm not sure he was prepared for the chaos of just 4 of the great-grandkids.
  • Scout learned to play Ring Around the Rosy, and once it starts it.never.ends.  We try to use sign language to say "all done," but she insists that it continues.
  • Scout has a fake cry that is really funny.
  • Scout is talking even more, and putting together 2 and 3 words ("here she is;" "mama sit;" etc.).  She's finally learned that our dog has a name, and thus, Nola's name has become "Nona."
  • She's still obsessed with her babies, and specifically, putting them "ni-night" over and over again.  And then again.

  • Scout has had a cold for a week.  At first I thought it was allergies.  Then I thought it was maybe the start of an ear infection.  But she coughs in the night, has a snotty nose, but is otherwise herself - happy and easy going all day long.  I guess we'll just hope that it improves.
  • I'm trying to get ahead around the house.  Mostly I'm trying to fend off our eating out habit by stocking the freezer with meals.  I'm in the planning stages now but hopefully I can be done in the next week.
  • Scout has become a really picky eater.  I guess she comes by it naturally, but it's probably not a good thing.
  • My mom finished radiation today.  Hooray! Our family has formed a Race for the Cure Team (Chemosabes).  Please consider making a donation.  More later.

  • My grandma found this newspaper clipping.  Didn't you grow up in a small town where they put birthday announcements in the local paper?
