A month or more ago, I got it in my head that I needed to sew Scout a dress for the 4th of July. My reasoning is that at some point she's going to protest wearing my homemade creations and dressing to match holidays. I ordered the fabric and set to work.
I'm so pleased with the result. It's not perfect, but it is my best sewn garment to date. The seams are all neatly finished, the bodice is fully lined, and I managed to sew 2 perfect buttonholes without screwing up the whole thing.
Pattern: The Brooke Dress
Size: 18 month (a bit too big)
Striped Fabric: How the Grinch Stole Christmas Crimson Stripes by Robert Kaufman
Stars Fabric: Red, White, & True Blue Stars Navy by Timeless Treasures
Shoes: Livie & Luca Nova in Red (I've found these on sale months ago and have been waiting for them to fit).
The pattern was really well-written and easy to follow. I actually made another version of this same pattern (post to come) and I really like the way it is constructed and I think it's cute. I really like the pleated skirt rather than a gathered Skirt.
Wrinkly dress from the stroller ride to the parade. Can you see the buttons?
After the parade, we went out for lunch. The restaurant is usually filled with college kids, but it was more like romper room yesterday filled with sweaty kids in 4th of July ensembles.
