First words.

In the past few weeks, Scout has really found her voice.  She became a babbler.  And it's pretty cute.  There's been lots of "dadadada" and "babababa," and then in the past few weeks she found the "mamama" and the "nanana."  We hear "dada" and "mama" and something that sounds kind of like "nola,"  and I'm almost ready to start calling them words.  But...

For over a month she's been doing this funny hand up and shoulder shrug when I ask her questions like, "Where is Nola?"  And every time she does it, I say, "I don't know either."  Imagine my surprise a couple of weeks ago when I asked her, "Where is Daddy?" and out of her mouth came what absolutely sounded like "Idunno."  She did it a couple of more times, but I thought I might be projecting.  But then we visited my parents and as soon as we walked in the door my mom asked, "Where's Nola?" And she said it.  And then again and again all weekend.  I texted Rykert who said it was likely just a "white noise phenomenon."  However, it happens way too often to be a coincidence.  Wait for the last question below...

On this particular night, it was almost bedtime she was a little crabby so it took 20 questions.  And did you notice the drool?  I keep trying to get a nice crisp video, but she seems to clam up as soon as I turn the camera (phone, actually) on.

Is it possible that her first words are a sentence?  After the "I don't knows," she also started saying "mo," which either means more or Cheerio.

P.S. I hate the sound of my recorded voice.  Is that really what I sound like?

If you need a sitter, I can be there approximately 6 hours, depending on flights. She is every bit as adorable as your mothering instincts tell you (so no, it's not just you!). Thinking of you guys.

I agree that she says all of those things... however, I'm pretty sure she says "no no" as well, as when she was at my house last week she looked at my phone, looked at me and said, "no no". Just sayin.

She's talking. My oldest daughter's first words were "get down". She used it to get out of the high chair, out of the bath, off the change table, out of the pram etc. It eventually came to mean "change what is happening now...".

Yes, I forgot to mention that she calls our iPhones "no no." I'm so proud.
