Santa

It took three attempts but we finally saw Santa.

Attempt #1:  For some reason we thought it would be perfectly reasonable to go see Santa at a busy mall on a Sunday afternoon two weeks before Christmas.  You won't be surprised to hear that we aborted when the line was half-way down the mall  to the food court.

Attempt #2:  Luckily we didn't get to the mall before we heard it was pet pic with Santa night.  We predicted that it was probably another long line only with cats and dogs.

So finally we made it.  The line was surprisingly long for a Tuesday evening.  We got in the mall, and I didn't get a good look at the Santa until it was finally our turn.  And well, had I gotten a better look before then, we probably would have aborted.  He wasn't the jolly old guy I was hoping to see.  He apparently had traded in his reindeer and sleigh for a hoveround.  He had a bum leg that had to be carefully propped in front of him.  I'm not sure what happened if you had two kids and one needed to perch on the bad side.

But Scout was a trooper and gave us a big smile...

I wish those reindeer antlers on her hat showed up better.
I'm kind of finding Santa creepy these days, and this mall Santa did nothing to change my mind.  We might try again at a different location this weekend if I get the energy.

Great pic of Scout! I agree, with motherhood came a strong distrust of old men who enjoy having small children sit on their laps, jolly or not.

Great picture! What a cutie. I love the candy cane socks - they make her look like one of Santa's elves.

I have heard good things about the Santa at Bass Pro. Can't speak for him myself though.
