Costume Party

Like I said yesterday, the impetus for my Mary Poppins costume was a party at a co-worker's house.  It was a great excuse to get dressed up.

I was, Mary Poppins.

Rykert is a good sport about Halloween.  I like that and I appreciate his zeal.  However, his costume choices are usually a bit, for lack of a better term, adult.  For that reason, he's never been interested in a "couples" costume with me (like Fred and Wilma, Herman and Lily, etc.)  The morning of the party, before he went to sleep, he asked which costume Scout was going to wear.  I told him that if we had thought ahead he could be a Ghostbuster and she could wear her ghost costume.  I was a bit irritated, because (a) it was clever and (b) had we thought of this sooner, it would have been a very fun costume to make from scratch.  But we were lucky enough to find a packaged version before the party.

The costume also came with an unwieldy, inflatable backpack thing.
There were other cute costumes at the party, but I don't like to post pictures of other people's kids (aside from close family) on the interwebs.

I made monster cake pops for the occasion.  Their existence is solely because Scout decided to grace us with a solid 2 hour nap right before the party.
