I used to be diametrically opposed to overly cutesy "hair" accessories for baby girls. You know the kind, right? Bows, rosettes, and a little bit of lace or eyelet stuck to a bald baby head. Or a satin elastic band with the same bow that looks an awful lot like a novelty wedding garter. I'm not sure why I disliked them so much, but I did.
But through the my travels through etsy, I've been exposed to some really cute headbands lately. So one of two things has happened: (1) my tastes have changed and I'm suddenly unopposed to cutesy headbands on babies, even those without hair, or (2) styles have changed and they are just a lot cuter than they were in the 80s and 90s. Or maybe the potential of haging a little girl to torture with headbands caused me to change my mind. I'm not sure which, but I like them now. I was going to order a couple of from etsy, but decided instead to try my hand at making them. Because, honestly, sometimes on a Sunday afternoon you just get the urge to pull out the hot glue gun and remove the first couple of layers of skin on your fingertips. I looked online for tutorials, but honestly this is not rocket surgery. I'm not 100% happy with the results on some of them. If I had more time and energy I would have found something more appropriate for the centers, but I was trying to use what I had on hand.

I do think they are cute, and they were super easy to make. I am a little concerned about the scale of the larger flowers. These are all newborn - 6 month sized, and I really wanted to avoid a flower that's a large percentage of the total head size. But for now, they'll satisfy my desire to spend on something so utterly unnecessary (but cute). And the best part is that I made all of those and more for less than $10 and just a few finger burns from the hot glue.

I just bought one on etsy yesterday for our little girl, and then bought some crap to make some of my own. I had some cute little flowers I bought at Michaels for scrapbooking that I wanted to put on something, so I guess baby girl gets to wear them!!! I, too, hate those other ones. I have no idea why I felt the need to buy that, but I did.
