A couple of weeks ago, I was at Michael's and saw this yarn.

It's Lion Brand Baby's First. It's a bulky yarn comprised of 55% acrylic and 45% cotton. It's essentially a bulky version of Lion Brand Cotton Ease, which I use a lot.
I cast on and just started knitting and in a couple of hours, I had a little hat.

The gauge is much bulkier than I've been knitting.

As far as the yarn? Verdict: I like it. My only "beef" with the yarn is the color palette, which is decidedly "baby" as the name suggests. But I can still see myself using this yarn, and I'll probably crank out a few more little hats with the remainder of the ball of the aqua and the pink ball that accidentally came home with me.
A question: I have another friend at work who is expecting a little boy. I thought this hat was going to be fairly gender neutral. Rykert disagreed. And I think he's probably right. What do you think?
I think I'm seriously obsessed with this aqua blue. Once the cupcake sweaters are completed, I'll be diving into this:

I love the "Splash" color of S&C and when my LYS only had one skein of it, I promptly went home and ordered some online. Don't know yet what I'm going to do with it, but for now am just enjoying looking at it. :-) I started the squares for the "Dream Catcher Baby Blanket" (S&C blog by SBA) and may use it there, but....
Where do you get your Spud and Chloe yarn?
@Crafty Girl: I purchased the Spud & Chloe at Home Ec Workshop in Iowa City. Love that store!!! I'm very happy with the Spud & Chloe yarns that I've tried so far.
