Wee stockings.

The Preemie Project is having a craft sale next week. The group holds two of these each year at the University of Iowa Hospital, and all proceeds are used to support the group's mission to provide blankets, hats, booties, and other clothing to premature and critically ill infants at UIHC.

I've honestly been slacking in crafting for this group, and wanted to make a few things to donate to the sale. I found this adorable pattern for wee Christmas stockings, and knit a few up last weekend using sport weight acrylic yarn.

I think they turned out very cute. They are fairly quick to knit, but a bit fiddly because of color changes and all the ends to weave in. They are knit flat and seamed up the back (though if you are familiar with sock knitting, they could easily be knit in the round).

The stripes are by far my favorite.

I'd like to knit 24 of them and make a garland/ advent calendar. I think it would be really cute, strung across my mantle or up the stairs. Of course, that means that I have to knit 24 of them, which would test my very short attention span. But maybe if I knit a few here and there, I will have 24 before next Christmas.

I also think these would be adorable tied to a package.

Now, I just need to get these turned over to chair of the craft sale so they can be included. That will be enough of a challenge for this week.
