Cupcake Week: Rainbow Cupcakes

We're going to take a brief break from the cupcakes that look like other food. I love food that looks like other food. So today's cupcake is really simple.

You need a white cake, either from a mix or from scratch. Prepare the batter. Divide the batter into smaller bowls, however many colors you want in the final product. I went with four.

Divided Batter

Using food color, dye each a different color. Your choice.

Tinted Batter

Remember what I said about red food color.

Using separate spoons, spoon the batter into each cupcake liner, a little at a time. You can get as creative as you want with placing the different colors. As you will see in the final product, I did not.

Bake 'em up.

I showed Anthony (he's 5) your cupcakes and wants to know why I do not make such "awesome" treats. We also love food that looks like other food.
I do think i can handle these rainbow ones though...

I almost forgot to ask... who is eating all these cupcakes?!

I have a secret... I only made a few of each variety. My nieces helped decorate and eat the leftovers, and then a bunch went to work with Rykert. Surprisingly, I only had a couple.
