Last weekend we spent the weekend in my hometown at my parent's. Party preparations, wedding dress shopping (for my younger sister), an all out carnival party, and Easter kept us super busy.
A few weeks ago, in discussing my nieces' 8th birthday, my sister decided to host something at my parents over the Easter weekend since all of their family would be in the vicinity. From there we somehow ended up on a carnival theme and it snowballed (just a bit). By the time it was all said and done, we were just praying for decent weather. There was no Plan B. And 40-50 people would burst the seams of my parent's house. Luckily, the weather could not have been better.
We set the stage with some decor...

There were games...

and prizes, large and small.

My sister appliqued initials on all the goodie bags.
There were funny faces.

Photo Ops...

and even Nola got to join in the fun.
Individual cakes for all of the April birthdays.

Cupcakes, cookies...

and hamburgers.

Sno Cones and Cotton Candy (which is really easy to make on the rented machine)

Even some three-legged racing...

All in all a pretty good day. And according to the birthday girls, the best party EVER. Until next year.
I think it feels pretty good to be 8.

What fun - I sure do wish we didn't live so far away...
What a great party! I just came across your blog because I am trying desperately to find the photo op and the bullseye game. Where did you buy it (it is Pottery Barn right?) They dont have them anymore... I have looked everywhere... if you know where to get them or your sister would like to sell hers please let me know.
Thanks
