Photography: Macro Part 2

My next attempt at a macro lighting set-up was using a semi-clear storage bin. I'm sure you probably have one of these somewhere in your house. There's ample information on this throughout the Internet, here's one article.

Place a piece of posterboard as the backdrop. Clamp your lights on the sides, or place one on top.

The result. Meh.

The pictures are a bit poorer in quality and have an odd cast. But, this would certainly do in a pinch, and I'm confident I could improve the set-up if I gave it a few more tweaks. The other drawback is that it will only accomodate smaller items. This isn't likely to be a huge problem, but something to consider.

I would definitely recommend giving this a try though. You may need to try different distances with the light, angles, and your camera settings.

I have the same problem with my photography - I'm rarely home or remember to take pictures when the sun is out... so lately I've commissioned my sister to be my official blog photographer. thanks for posting your trial and error - I saw that strobist post earlier, and now I'm definitely going to give it a try.
