The Wrestler.

Where Libby again pretends that she is a movie critic...

Last weekend's movie, in our quest to see all of the Oscar contenders, was The Wrestler. I thought it was ok, but Rykert really liked it. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone, because it's of a character that I think people would either love it or hate it, and I don't want to be responsible for the latter. Mickey Rourke was absolutely transformative (sorry for the buzz word), and I absolutely believed, from beginning to end, that he was "The Wrestler." His performance was phenomenal. And the rest of the cast was decent. But the movie lost ground on the story and script, which, in my opinion were sadly underdeveloped and weak. That being said, Rykert really like this movie. And if you are a fan of pro wrestling you will also probably like this movie. I don't, and I didn't. But if you do go and see it, don't take the kids, 'k?

If you are waivering between spending $8+ to see this or Slumdog Millionaire, then, without a doubt, see Slumdog Millionaire.

It should be noted, that my movie-going idosyncracies were irritated at the start with this movie. It was in a pitifully small theatre, people came in ridiculously late, and there was only one preview - all of which kinda annoy me.

By the way, in the interest of statistics, I'm trying to document all of the movies we see in 2009. So I apologize but you may be subjected to more of this moving forward.

Thanks for sharing your review. I still haven't had a chance to see it but plan to soon. I wish I could convince my husband to see Slumdog Millionaire with me. Much to my regret, we just don't go to the theater much.
