Movies to See

We used to see a lot of movies - just about anything worth seeing, we saw. And some that really weren't worth seeing (that new Superman movie is one of the first that comes to mind). This year we've been pretty light on the movies. I think this is mostly because there really hasn't been much to see. However, with the big Holiday Movie season in full swing, my list of must-see movies is growing and growing.

Here's what I have so far:
  • Four Christmases (I don't expect it to change my life, but I do like to look at V.V.)
  • Milk
  • Marley & Me
  • Rachel Getting Married
  • Slum Dog Millionaire
  • The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
  • Valkyrie (despite my dislike for Tom Cruise)
  • The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  • Revolutionary Road

There is one potential roadblock. I'm not sure that a few of these will be in wide release, and Iowa City is now without it's small (and outdated) theatre downtown that used to show more indie type movies. Hopefully one of the mainstream mall theatres will pick all of these up.

What have I missed? What other good movies have you seen lately or looking forward to seeing? (Please don't say Beverly Hills Chihuahua)

No suggestions on movies to see, but for the ones that end up not being shown here, there's always Netflix (or Blockbuster, but Netflix is better for the harder to get titles -- I just checked most of these and they are currently listed). You do have to wait for them to come out on DVD though.

My daughter (age 15) loved the movie Twilight.

I just saw Twilight tonight. It was really good. The books are much better, but the movie was worth seeing. Rykert would hate it though, you might need to go with Emily. I saw Beverly Hills Chihuahua, I think Garrett and I were the only adults there without a child, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm looking forward to watching Meryl Streep's movie, Doubt.
