Thanksgiving came and went, and without posting the post I had in my head. But it was a very nice holiday. A very large turkey was prepared, potatoes were mashed, pies were devoured, and chaos prevailed. We had 22 people at my parent's and the meal was a community affair with my dad preparing the turkey, my aunt making the vegetables, my mom hand mashing 10 pounds of potatoes, and my sister and I filling in with pumpkin pies, a spinach dip, . It was a very nice day celebrated with family and eating far too much. As a result I was still not feeling 100% yesterday (Friday). But today, I think I'm ready to eat again.

Thanksgiving Day also brought my 4th Wedding Anniversary. We were married the Saturday after Thanksgiving and marked the holiday with a joint feast of both of our families followed by the wedding festivities. Unfortunately, this year, Rykert had to rush out after our meal to get to work on Thursday night. We'll probably celebrate with dinner out next week instead.

There's been a wee bit of knitting, but not much. I'd like to stop at one or two knitting stores in the Des Moines area before heading back to the IC area, but I'm not sure if it will happen. Thanksgiving festivities have left me with the beginnings of a head cold.

I'm hoping you all had a wonderful holiday filled with family and friends and a feast. Despite the lean times, we have much to be thankful for - or at least I know that I do. Family, laughter, all that I need and then some, a fulfilling job surrounded by kind people, and a sweet dog.

I apologize that this is without pictures but there are a couple of reasons for this: (1) we were too busy and there was far too much chaos on Thanksgiving to take many pictures and (2) I'm still too exhausted to locate my camera and cord to upload. They'll be on Flickr this week.

So now, I'm ready for Christmas. Lights, cookies, and music.

P.S. I am getting soooo close to 500 posts....
