Halloween Recap

I meant to post on Saturday, but then I got busy. I meant to post on Sunday, but I was exhausted by the time I got around to it.

So we attended a Halloween party on Friday night. Costumes were debuted and fun was had by all.

So here is what the Peach costume looked like. (this is actually a pre-Halloween trial). Don't I look like a dork?

And here we are at the party.

If I was to do this again, and I don't plan to, I'd do many things different. Most importantly, I would fix the neckline and make fuller skirts. But this was my first adult sized garment made basically without a pattern.

During the party, there was a knock on the door*...

And Matt Foley, motivational speaker, was also there.

I love Halloween. Too bad it only comes once a year. Speaking of that I have a blog challenge that I'm considering for the new year in the interest of improving my sewing skills. I could attempt to make myself a dress or a skirt, but I'm sure that based on my current skill level, I would not end up wearing it. So what if I sew a new costume each month in the new year. It'll give me the chance to improve my sewing skills and make some funky costumes. I tend to get bored with projects, so I'm still thinking about it, but I think it would be fun. And if I do this, then January will be flapper.

*No offense is intended here. It's just a recognizable cultural character, if you will. No different than a pregnant nun costume or a priest.
