Election Day.

I Voted

Did you? There was no line at our precinct. I think everyone else in our county took the warnings to heart, and voted early.

Elections can feel neverending in Iowa thanks to the caucuses. My voicemail inbox is completely full, as we stopped answering our home phone weeks ago. (We are considering cancelling the phone rather than going through the messages.) We had someone knocking on our door by 9 this morning (and everyday in the last week) to get us to the polls. While I admire their dedication and tenacity, I'll be happy when this is over. We'll be glued to the tv tonight getting overexposed to see what happens (we're political junkies). While I have my preferences and perfectly reasoned (of course) arguments to support these positions, I'll leave those for another time. I like to talk politics but only when I know the person on the other side is not unreasonably personally involved and is capable of having a reasoned, respectful debate (not everyone is). Nuances aren't easy to discern via a blog post, and I'm not a political blogger so I'll leave it there. But I will warn you, I sometimes convincingly argue the opposite side just for funsies.

We did the early voting thing a few weeks ago. I'm looking forward to staying up late (knitting) and watching the results roll in!
