Finished

It's amazing what I can finish when I devote myself to a single project. I cast off the Simple Yet Effective Shawl (Ravelry Link) this weekend. And I love the results.

SYE Finished 01

I admit that when I started this I wasn't sure about the colors, but once I hit the first pink section, I knew it would be all good. This used exactly one ball of Noro Sock in color 95.

But here's the deal. While I really like the finished product, I'm not sure what to do with it or how to wear it. I kind of feel like I'm wearing a cape or like a woman of mature age, if-you-know-what-I-mean. I'm thinking that I can maybe wear it as a scarf with my winter coat, but I'm also not ruling out the possibility of this being a gift come Christmas. So for now, it's just going to sit.

That being said, I'm already itching to cast on another with another rogue ball of Noro Sock. It's simple, comforting knitting with alternating sections of stockinette and garter stitch.

P.S. I need a haircut or I should have at least used a blow dryer before taking a picture.

That only took one ball? Wow. I have one ball of Noro sock sitting around wondering what it's going to turn into. Hmm....

Hurray for project monogamy and finishing things! It is lovely. I totally want to knit one.

Yeah, my Noro sock yarn is destined for a mini-shawl, too. I should have known better than to convince myself briefly I'd used it for socks. I keep a felted pair of sock in my knitting storage to remind me that those don't end well for me.

You could wear it over your head as a head scarf.

I think it's beautiful and your hair looks fine. Love, Mom

Love it! I've always wanted to try a shawl too but am not sure how to wear it. Yours looks really cute and I do think it would make a nice warm scarf to wear under a coat.
