Waiting in the wings...

When I saw flintknits February Lady Sweater (Ravelry Link), I immediately (along with literally thousands of others) queued this up. It took everything I had not to cast on immediately. However, I decided to wait, search for the right yarn, and work on knitting through some of the yarn I have on hand in the meantime. I've knit the inspiration for this pattern, the Baby Sweater on Two Needles (aka February Baby Sweater) from Elizabeth Zimmermann's Knitter's Almanac twice, and plan on knitting it again and again. So it really wasn't a surprise that I really, really liked this pattern.

Then this weekend, after meeting my parent's at the Des Moines Farmer's Market (one of my favorite things to do in the summer), my mom and I headed to Knitted Together in West Des Moines where I found the perfect (and oft used yarn substitute for this pattern) in a color very close to that used in the original. Sometimes it's hard to determine why you like a pattern: is it the pattern, the color, etc.

So here it is, Dream in Color Classy in Happy Forest destined to be the February Lady Sweater.
DIC February Sweater

I'm going to try to hold off on winding it and continue knitting my way through baby hats. But I may not be able to resist...

I was going between DIC Happy Forest and Gothic Rose for my FLS and then I found two skeins Gothic Rose for $5 off and snapped them up. Of course, if I do find some Happy Forrest somewhere, I may not be able to resist. I was about the 35th person to queue it yet it will be awhile before I start it.

Man oh man, I know exactly what you mean about it taking all your power not to cast on immediately for that pattern. I've been drooling over it myself. Knitting Together not too terribly far from my office. Did they have a good selection and good quantities of Classy?

So pretty! This sweater is in my queue as well, but I've got too much going on right now so I will be able to wait. A while.
