Again and Random.

I considered writing today's post as a list of things that annoy me and then a list of things that I'm coveting. Well, the list of annoyances was particularly long (including the use of smileys - particularly in business related email) and it seemed whiney. I will give you one annoyance. If there is anything I hate about the fall/ winter, it is the incredible amount of light. I wake up and it is dark, and I come home from work and it is nearly dark. I can take the cold (or at least I can bear it), but the lack of sunlight is really bothersome. Otherwise, the weather has been really nice and fall-like and the colors are really popping.

So, I don't talk about work a lot on this blog. There are good reasons for that most importantly the fact that it is not that interesting to the uninvolved and I try to keep this space knitting, and at the very least crafting, related. But this week, work has been intense, nerve wracking, and exhausting. While I have a couple of knitting projects in the works (simple, mindless hats), I find myself so exhausted in the evenings that I start knitting a couple of rows and then wake up an hour or two later. Seriously. It's a good thing the dog hasn't been at full speed yet, or our living room would have been ripped to shreds while I was zonked out on the couch.

And about that dog. Well, she went to the vet twice this week. She was incredibly lethargic last Sunday and Monday (hardly responding to us), and we were worried. At first, the vet thought it was something she ate. Well, after carefully watching her posture, it occurred to Rykert what the issue was. Last Saturday Rykert took her to the dog park in the afternoon/ evening. While there (her favorite place to be outside of the ski lake) she was blindsided and t-boned by a large lab. A complete accident which sent her flying. He didn't think anything of it, because she got right back up and was back to playing. By the next morning the injury to her hind leg muscles and such was so intense that it caused a fever and general lethargy. Some anti-inflammatories, and she is now on the mend. In fact, last night we had full-fledged puppy crazy time (those with dogs will know what I'm talking about) in which she stole (one-by-one) every sock out of the laundry. I think she's on the mend, but she's getting spoiled. Since the weather has cooled down, we've been letting her sleep on her bed in our sun room, which is now set up with a doggie door leading to our fenced in backyard. She likes this. She prefers this. There is no getting that dog back in the kennel(at least not without hours of barking). That's all well and good for now, but it will soon (as in any day now) be too cold to leave her out there all night. So we are now working on new sleeping arrangements.

Next week is Halloween, and this is the first year in a while in which I haven't made any costumes. Rykert and I are big fans of Halloween costumes. Maybe we'll dress up and go out to a local bar (so not our thing). We haven't even bought (let alone carved) any pumpkins or bought candy to pass out. Oh, and have you noticed how stores and malls and such are promoting trick or treat activities. Whatever happened to knocking on strangers doors and begging for candy? I saw a sign at Wal-Mart advertising "Come and Trick or Treat at Wal Mart on Oct. 31." I think that is wrong.

When I am stressed, I tend to shop. This week has been probably the most stressful week at work that I have ever had. So, I bought a new sewing machine. I'm hoping to do some sewing for Christmas this year. We'll see how far I get. I already have a flickr inspired project nearly completed. It's a prototype, but not a bad first shot.

I am glad to hear that your puppy is on the mend. Poor thing!
