Puppy Love.

If you have any inclination to bring a dog into your family, do not go and "look" at a litter of golden retriever puppies. It is not possible to simply "look," and you will inevitably return with a new member of the family. I believe that the same holds true for the local animal shelter.

All this is to say that in 2 weeks, Rykert and I will be welcoming a new member to our family. Here she is:

Isn't she cute. Of course she is, puppies have to be cute - I've never seen one that wasn't. After a considerable amount of discussions, we chose this little one over her 8 siblings, mostly because when I picked her up she cuddled and looked up at me and "smiled." It had to be her.

So now, we are having a naming debate as we puppy-ready the house and yard. We have 2 short weeks to patch the holes in the fence and finish some of the projects in process.

We have a short list of possible name contenders. My favorite as of now is Purl. Rykert is partial to a name representative of his Louisiana roots (think Cajun) - he's currently liking Beignet and Laignappe. Nola is also a potential contender. I also like Lola (but Rykert fears being confused for a Fanilow.)

Anyway, we are clearly looking for some suggestions.

What a cutie! Congratulations, goldens make wonderful companions.

P.S. I vote for Nola. Beignet and Laignappe are cute, just be prepared to spend the rest of her life explaining her name.

she's adorable! My 1 year old miniature australian shepherd is named macKintosh Apple Computer aka "Mac." I'm very loyal to my computers. . .
Anyways, I like these names (Mostly French):

Desiree (pronounced desira (long a)

=) Hope this helps.

It's got to be Lanie short for Tulane!!!

If it can't be Lanie then my vote is for Nola, I guess. Was there a character on The Guiding Light with that name? But I definately think Lanie. . . or there's always Twinkle or Sparkle

Adorable! I am sure whatever name you choose will be perfect!

I'd consider naming the puppy something that will "yell" well. When you have to call her because she has run down the street, you don't want to be hollering out something that's hard to pronouce, or embarrassing. (" fi!!")

I have WWII-type memories of the last puppy I raised. Oh, the chewing...the incessant chewing...

Hey! Congrats on the cute puppy! The name for any dog must be of one syllable so she responds to it well. Otherwise she will be less than obedient. It does have to yell well! :) Purl is awesome. :)
