MIA.

So, I've been missing from the blog world lately. There are a number of reasons for it... spring fever, busy times at work, and other things...

Namely, we've been house hunting. We've made an offer, and it's been accepted and we're ready to move forward. It's not final, but we're getting close and if all goes according to plan we will have a new house next month. It's a perfect place for us with a nice yard and lots of space. While it isn't perfect, it is more than liveable and we are excited. Here's to real adulthood.

Have you ever seen that show on HGTV called House Hunters? We've been living that. Seriously - only a lower price range version. So here's how it goes: House 1 smells like grandma may have died in the basement and they haven't found the body. House 2 is perfect but in a questionable location with a view of the Golden Arches and lacking central air conditioning. House 3 is an adorable old cottage that would be perfect except for the incredible amount of work and maintenance it needs and the fact that there is no garage. House 4 is another cottage that doesn't appear to have a refrigerator, or room for a refrigerator. Seriously. By this point we were getting frusturated. House 5 is perfect except for the view and noise from I-80 booming through the backyard. House 6 is a filthy mess. And the others... it was difficult to get past houses that were decorated in a way that differs dramatically from my own tastes. So we ended up with the multi-story zero-lot line with a decent yard and needing only limited cosmetic work (the country bunny wallpaper in the kitchen will be my first victim). Only time will tell if we made the best choice.

Here's to us and hoping that I will soon actually be able to relax and sleep at night.

Congrats on buying a house! My husband and I bought our first house last Summer. Our shopping experience was similar to yours. We looked at at least 25 houses. In the end, we bought the cleanest house we saw. My first remodel project was the strip down the wallpaper appliques of watering cans that were in the bathroom.

Congrats--it is fun to get a place to really call your own and be able to make personal touches and serious decorating decisions if you like!

Congratulations! I remember house hunting days fondly. I can't believe we have been living in our house 4 years already, but we have, and since we originally purchased the house with a 5 year ARM it is now time to refinance. This morning we had an appraiser come. Fun stuff, let me tell you. I can't wait to see all the wonderful decorating and house stuff you do!

Buying a house can be exciting and stressful. Congratulations on finding one. You'll sleep better once the keys are in your hand.

I love reading your blog and look forward to hearing about and seeing all the creative things you do in your new home. This coming from a person whose husband bought a house in Ann Arbor that she did not see until the day she moved in (we lived in California and had a new baby). Needless to say, the old kitchen is now a bathroom. Anyway, keep us posted.
