In which the writer finds another use for her favorite of all craft supplies... ribbon. In this case, grosgrain patterned ribbons.

I'm not sure where I got this idea, but I'm sure that I saw it somewhere. It seemed like the perfect excuse to pick up some of the cute ribbon that has been popping up at the fabric and craft stores recently. A few hours of trial resulted in these prototypes.

They are simple buttono side, wrap baby shirts, adorned with bits of grosgrain ribbon picked up here and there. While not perfect, I'm still working on the execution, I think they are cute. A simple little gift that would be perfect for a baby shower. These are in the 0-3 month and 3-9 month size, but they look impossibly small.

ABCs. I love this ribbon, and wish that I could find more. If anyone knows where, please let me know...

I have a few more shirts, and lots of ribbon left, so I'll have to keep working on it. It never hurts to have a few baby gifts on hand.

I've also started knitting a Baby Surprise Jacket. I have my doubts that this thing will turn into a jacket, and anyone who has ever knit one knows what I mean. But I'll press on, and hope for the best. Thousands of knitters over 30+ years can't be wrong about a pattern. Hopefully will have that done this week...

What a great little personal touch the ribbon adds!

OH, this is brilliant! What a great way to add a simple touch without hours and hours of effort. Did you use iron-on interfacing, or did you sew on the ribbon?

SO crazy cute! This is a great idea for the Preemie Project as well... Jake had these types of tshirts on all the time in the NICU. One suggestion if you do go for the Preemie Project, make the tails of the bows a lot shorter so they won't interfere with cords and monitors.

I love love love the stripey ribbon!

Those shirts are adorable! Good luck with the BSJ, I haven't had the nerve to retry it since my previous disaster. If you figure it out, I'll get you to help me!

Love these shirts! I have some of the same ribbon. I think I bought the ABC ribbon at Hobby Lobby. It was a while back.

I've wanted to try the BSJ for a while, but just haven't gotten around to it.

I forgot to mention that the bows are not affixed yet. I'm still trying to decide if I want to do something different or how I am want to apply the bows. More experimentation to come.

Thank you for all of your comments. Unfortunately, blogger won't let me respond individually to comments. Grrrr.

Cute cute cute!!!

I am hoping to visit the new Crazy Yarn Girl store on the strip this weekend while I am in town to watch husband's band play at the Yacht Club. Since I am a yarn diet, I need to buy only sock yarn. Do you know if they have a good selection?
