Big Sigh.

So, here we are in December. In my mind, it's already January. This is the last full work week for the year for me. Next week, I'm traveling for work on Monday - Wednesday, and then Friday is our office Christmas party and just a half day. The following week, I will take Monday off and then work 2 days. Then that's it - I'm on vacation until the new year. The craziness of the next few weeks have me a little overwhelmed, and feeling a bit like Charlie Brown. When am I going to get my baking done?

In the meantime, this blog is suffering. This time of year takes me to work when it is still dark and brings me home when it is dark again. Therefore, I'm lacking in decent pictures. Though I have been busy with all sorts of craftiness. This weekend, I attempted to get ahead by documenting some of my recent work.

Today's installment brings you my advent calendar.

Over Thanksgiving, I came across this post on I was intrigued reading the tutorial on My Minutia. Teresa McFayden came up with a really cute idea.

I immediately got to work. After some initial frusturations with painting on metal, I finally finished it just in the nick of time.

I still don't have all of the magnets quite finished (I'm working one day at a time), and as you can see this picture was taken on Saturday. The letters are made of chipboard and found in the scrapbooking section. The magnets will be an assortment of scrapbooking supplies and painted wood shapes. I still have to figure out how to hang it. I thought I'd be able to hammer a small hole for a ribbon, but had no luck. Unfortunately I don't have a drill, so I'm not sure how to hang it.

When I was a kid we had a felt advent calendar that my grandma made. Each day you would velcro a small stuffed felt onto the Christmas tree. With a felt Santa marking Christmas Eve. My parent's still have it 20+ years later. It's likely hanging in their kitchen again this year.

Cute! Will super glue stick to metal? You could glue the ribbon on back.
