Halloween Preview.

In preparation for my sister's Halloween party, Rykert and I did some kitchen crafting this weekend. First up, a craptastic photo of my craptastic frosting work on the witch hats.
Witches Hats
They taste like Fudge Stripe cookies and Hershey's Kisses. Can't imagine why? Simple and with better execution, they'd be very cute.

We then moved on to the challenge of the day, pretezel Ladies Fingers (recipe can be found at MarthaStewart.com).
Ladies Fingers
These were a challenge because it involved a yeast dough, rolling them out, and then poaching them before baking. After this, I may be ready to try bagels. These are surprisingly tasty (and would be great with a cheese dip), and looked quite eerie stuck into Rykert's bowl of chili last night a la Wendy's. The fingernails sort of freak me out. They are sliced almonds painted red with food coloring. Here's the sad part, I had these packaged up to take to my sisters and dropped the box outside of my car this morning. Luckily, most of them were rescued by falling on the lid of the container. However, my neighbors were undoubtedly shocked when they got in their car this morning and saw "fingers" laying in the parking lot.

I may make these again later in the week to take to our traveling Halloween party that will be visiting my cousin Julia in the hospital. And I think I'll make some creepy cupcakes or peanut butter balls dipped in white chocolate decorated to look like eyeballs.

Costume preview later tonight or tomorrow...

Those are great! I love the hats, but the fingers kinda creep me out. Must mean they're realistic :)
