Grab your sharpies...

I went back to the doctor this week about my foot anticipating that I would be able to throw the boot away and put my left shoes back on. Unfortunately, it isn't exactly healing (and this has been going on since August). So, that means one step back.
cast
Yes that is a cast. Actually, it's the second cast. The first cast cracked on the first night of wear and was rather shoddy construction. So, I got to spend another morning in the cast room at UIHC. The color choices were rather flourescent, so I settled for baby blue. Call me crazy, but I'm thinking about knitting a cozy for my toes, because Fall has turned cool in Iowa. So far, I only have one signature on the cast - "It's good for you. Rykert." This is Rykert's standard answer to any whining that I may do. It's heavy and uncomfortable, but life could be worse (as witnessed while in the cast room and from hearing stories of Julia's slow and arduous recovery from her surgery that has her in and her parents in unbearable pain (see post below).)

I have some knitting in the works, but haven't been able to get any pictures. It's hard when it is still a bit dark when you leave in the morning, and dreary gray when you get home. It's been a cold and dreary week in Iowa. Oh, and I slipped on my cast and hit my face on a doorjam yesterday morning while fumbling in the dark leaving me with a bit of a black eye. Seriously. Stay away from me - I'm bad luck this week.

Oh, Libby. I'm sorry about the black eye! Of course, the cast is a lovely color, and I agree that your toes need a cozy. I hope you start healing soon!

Oh, poor Libby. It is a pretty color, though. Most definitely a toe cozy, those toes are going to get awfully cold if you don't. Try not to get hurt (any more)!

I hope it heals quickly. A toe cosy is definitely in order. (I'm sympathetic because I broke my foot 3 weeks ago and am eager for it to heal.)

You've babied your foot for a long time and I know you're tired of it. It's gotta heal this time! Keep those toes warm.

I also say knit an injury protective figure (like a doll) and carry it with you always! Heal well!
