Details.

The felted bag is complete. Well, at least the knitting portion of the project is complete. Here it is pre-felting. (I should have put something in the picture for scale)...
stash bag prefelting

I gave it a hot wash in my antique washing machine. It took about half a cycle to felt. It probably could have gone longer, because there is still some stitch definition. But I was afraid of it shrinking too much and becoming too small... so I stopped.

I decided to follow the handle suggestion in the book and use plastic tubing from the hardware store. I still need to secure it to the bag. This is not an easy task, so it will have to wait until Rykert can help me punch holes in the tubing to sew the buttons on. I started today...

The blue ribbon will go into the plastic tubing. I also need to line the entire thing. I find that knitted and felted bags can stretch without lining.

But, I was also ready to start something new...
ribbed baby jacket
This is the ribbed jacket from Special Knits. This is the smallest size (0-3 months) and is knit using Cotton Ease in sugarplum. I tried this pattern after being inspired by the version that Laura was working on before Christmas. It isn't finished - still needing a seam, blocking, and a fastener. This poor little sweater doesn't have a recipient, but I'm sure I can find someone to give it to.

I'm considering working on the child size version for my nieces for their birthday (pattern in Junior Knits.

The bag looks great, and so does the sweater! I love that pattern. Will we see the bag next Tuesday (and you, of course!)?

Love the ribbed jacket, I did this pattern last fall for a baby gift. It is adorable! I wish they had an adult version :)

The tubing with the ribbon inside is an interesting idea.

Oh, such beautiful knits! I love the little sweater, and yes, a perfect recipient will come along! It is similar to the adult pattern called "Lara" which is by Debbie Bliss. I am not sure which book it is in though.

That bag is spectacular. It looks amazing. I had never thought about felts stretching without lining. I have only made one felted item though, so I will remember this next time around!

Great post :)

I've been a lurker for some time, but just wanted to say how lovely your sweater looks! I've loved that pattern since I saw it 2 years ago. My son is 10 and I've had to stop myself from knitting a baby dowery of sorts just so I can knit baby stuff!
