I did it again. I left town for a few days without hanging a "Will Return At" sign. I spent the end of last week and last weekend babysitting my cousins while their parents were out of town, and returned home exhausted. I then had to catch up on things at home and attend a seminar. But I've been working away at Christmas gifts and other crafty endeavors.

I've been taken by Jess Hutch's softies since I first came across her blog this past year. I've been trying to get my hands on her pattern booklet since she first put it up for sale, but was always a day late. However, I have now ordered one and can't wait for it to arrive. In the meantime, the winter edition of Knitty came out and she had the most adorable pattern, Kate, published. I ran right out and found some yarn, and got started...
Legless Kate
This is a quick knit, but she's still armless and legless. I used Cascade 220 and plan to make at least one more. Very very cute. I also put her ears on inside out, but I think it just adds to her charm. I'm also planning to make the pocket creatures at some point.

I also finally blocked the Koigu scarf... It seems to be behaving. So far.

And then there was sewing...
I made this blanket for a baby shower that I am invited to this weekend. One side is sage green chenille and the other is a plaid flannel. Very soft and cozy. The parents don't know if it is a boy or a girl, so I picked these gender neutral colors.

I also made these little blankets for my sister. She's building a Diaper Cake for the shower and these are going to be a part of it.

Before I leave, here's my youngest charge from last weekend trying her hand at knitting...

She's only 4, and can't really knit. But she looks like she knows what she is doing, doesn't she?
