So, it's not really a great picture, but you get the drift.

It all started when I read this post at Fig and Plum. She pointed out this great vest from Urban Outfitters. Then, I was pointed toward Yesterknits (free knitting pattern 3/ bolero). This led to a frenzy of discussion on Craftster.

Needless to say, I was curious about the construction and loved the Urban Outfitters inspiration. This is a more summery version than the UO sweater. I used Cotton Ease and reduced my cast on to make it shorter. In hindsight, that was a mistake. I may pick up stitches all around and add a few more inches. Overall, I'm generally pleased with the result - particularly since the yarn cost was about $4, and the pattern was free.

Lolly just started one too. I can't wait to see how hers turns out.

And a big thanks to Jessica at Fig and Plum for pointing out the original sweater and starting the discussion at Craftster, and to all those who shared so much information and suggestions on the Craftster thread.
